Dr Khalid Zahouily,
Head Manager

K.ZAHOUILY : Manager

Dr. K.Zahouily received his PhD in Photochemistry and Photopolymers from the University of Haute-Alsace (UHA) in 1994. He joined the CNRS team of Professor Christian Decker as project manager on Innovative materials and Photopolymers. He has successfully conducted several R and D projects in collaboration with Ciba, Dupont, 3M, Clariant ,BASF,Bayer, Air Liquide, etc. In 2001, after a 12 yearlong experience in this field, he created his own R&D company(PnP), where he developed a number of technological innovations covering a large range of industrial applications in various fields, such as nanotechnologies, graphic arts, medical sciences and building engineering.

Dr. Khalid Zahouily is and recognized as an expert at the “ Directorate General for Research and Innovation” from the French Department of National Education.

Professor Christian Decker ,
Scientific Director

Prof. Christian Decker was Director of Research at the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) in France. He graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Strasbourg and got his doctor in Physical Science degree in 1967 from the University of Strasbourg. He has been working on radiation-induced reactions in polymer materials at the Research Center on Macromolecules of Strasbourg and at Stanford Research in California. In 1975, Professor Decker joined the University of Haute Alsace to become head of the Polymer Photochemistry Laboratory at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Mulhouse (ENSCMu). The team of Professor Decker has been involved in various areas involving the interaction of light with polymers, in particular, ultrafast light-induced polymerizations, the synthesis and characterization of UV-cured coatings and nanocomposites, the photostabilization of industrial polymers and the laser-assisted chemical processing of polymers. Most of this work has been conducted in close collaboration with industrial partners to develop more performing polymer materials (varnishes, adhesives, nanocomposites) by an environment-friendly technology. Prof. Decker is the author of 320 research publications and patents. He has given over 400 lectures in scientific meetings. He has received a number of scientific awards, two in particular, from the American Chemical Society and from RadTech International.

Professor Gérard Riess
Technical and Scientifical Adviser

Gérard RIESS, Ingénieur ChimisteGérard RIESS, Chemical Engineer ENSCMu (1954), Dr.Ing., Dr. es Sciences, was head of the Macromolecular Chemistry Laboratorium of ENSCMu from 1968 to 1997. During the same period, he was Associated Professor at various Universities in the USA, Germany, Italy and Japan. Since 1997, he pursues his research activities as Emeritus Professor. His field of research, as well as his industrial experience as consultant and expert at courthouses, are focused on the macromolecular synthesis, the study of colloidal polymer systems(micelles, emulsion, latex), composites and polymer alloys. Professor Riess has supervised about 100 PhD thesis and he has authored over 270 publications and chapter books. He held 42 patents and received in 1995 the award Grand Prix Européen de L'Innovation.
